Do you advocate for or recommend against raw food diets for your patients?  Which end of the spectrum do you lean towards in your recommendations … and why?

Against. Too much danger of food-borne pathogens (potentially zoonotic), and most of my clients that want to feed raw food are doing so based on misinformation.

I also worry about bones being fed by those wanting to feed raw.

That said, raw food diets CAN be safe. I just don't trust most of my clients to actually be able to do it safely, and without feeding an imbalanced diet. Homemade diets can be constructed with balanceit.com (even if they're not exactly raw).

The raw food diet cav have some benefits, but it is not perfect and can be risky. This raw diet includes uncooked, unprocessed foods. The aim of this diet is to eat foods in their natural way as they are, without any processing, heating or mixing that can change their natural structure.
