Interestingly, many people believe or accept that it is normal for cats to occasionally vomit. In fact, chronic intermittent vomiting is not normal and should be regarded as something that adversely impacts a cat's quality of life. This session will explore some of the more common underlying causes and diagnostic approaches for chronic vomiting in cats, focusing on conditions such as feline chronic small bowel disease (CSBD - e.g. chronic inflammatory enteropathy / IBD and small cell lymphoma), as well as pancreatitis. Discussion will include:

  • Clinical signs and presentations
  • Diagnostic testing including imaging, biopsy and laboratory testing
  • Treatment approaches including medications, probiotics, and food trials
