In this first segment of a 4-part series we focus on the types of information needed to make the most appropriate, individualized treatment plans for our canine patients with chronic kidney disease. In particular, we focus on why the information is important and how it helps us make clinical decisions. This includes a look at some of the newer diagnostic testing options available and how those can be incorporated into our workups of patients. This provides a foundation for the next session when we discuss the therapeutic options for managing CKD.
Discussion includes:
- Interpretation of diagnostic tests and staging
- Diagnostic testing for CKD beyond the basics including other serum chemistry parameters, imaging modalities, and new biomarkers
- The importance of monitoring blood pressure and approaches to treatment
Running time: 1 hr 27 min (including 17 mins Roundtable with questions / answers)
Approved for 1.5 hrs of CE credit by AAVSB RACE and NY State
