In a past specialty update on the topic of hemp and cannabinoids we referenced an article titled "Consumer's Perceptions of Hemp Products for Animals." This paper reported that 85% of pet owners use these products because they are from a "natural source," and 81% indicated that they used them as an adjunct to conventional therapies. Findings of this study underscored the importance for veterinarians to understand the growing demand for complementary and integrative care options by pet owners, and the need to be familiar with those options - particularly those that are rational and evidence based.
