Brief Bio (include professional interests, hobbies, etc.):
Dr. Michelle Kutzler is a native of Kent, Washington. She graduated from Washington State University with a B.S. in 1990 and D.V.M. in 1993. She worked in two mixed veterinary practices in Minnesota from 1993 to 1997. In 1997, she began a residency in veterinary reproduction (Theriogenology) at Cornell University and became board-certified in Theriogenology in 1999. She stayed on at Cornell University to earn a PhD in Physiology in 2002. Dr. Kutzler has been on the faculty at Oregon State University since 2002 and is currently an Associate Professor of Companion Animal Industries. Dr. Kutzler authored the book Small Animal Pediatrics as well as over 100 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters. Dr. Kutzler’s current companion animal research interests include alternative methods to traditional surgical sterilization, long-term effects of gonadectomy on health and longevity, and GnRH immunization and down-regulation for the treatment of gonadectomy-related disorders (e.g. urinary incontinence). Dr. Kutzler breeds, trains and shows Miniature Dachshunds. She also trains and shows llamas and alpacas. Dr. Kutzler is married to an amazingly supportive husband (Sean) and has three remarkable children (Courtney, Colleen and Connor).
