Diagnosing neuropathic pain in a dog or cat can be challenging, as the symptoms (as described by humans) are variable and not so obvious. In a recent Roundtable discussion on Neuropathic Pain, we were reminded of the range of symptoms that patients may experience, and Dr. E'Lise Christensen described some of the behaviors that can be demonstrated by dogs and cats with this specific type of pain.
